| Situated some
eight miles from the City of Swansea, the centre is in the village
of Parkmill situated at the bottom of a steep-sided Gower valley. It
is surrounded by superb wooded Gower countryside but is only one
mile from the sea and within walking distance of Pobbles Beach and
Three Cliffs Bay.
The Centre has full central heating
and is available for hire twelve months of the year.

| The
Old School:
|
This is the original fine old Victorian
stone building. It
is suitable for smaller groups with a large, fully equipped kitchen and
a large hall/dining room which has been recently refurbished. Sleeping accommodation is on
camp beds in the hall. There
is a separate room for adults. The recommended maximum number is 16
young people plus 3 adults. |

Ilston Lodge: |
This building houses a large hall for
dining, recreation and training. There
is wheelchair access and a disabled toilet plus a fully-equipped
kitchen, with pantry and toilet. |

| Green
Cwm & Stonemill Dormitories: |
These
self-contained dormitory blocks each sleep 19 in bunk beds and are
equipped with wash hand basins, showers and toilets.
Each block has a separate room for two adults, with
bunk beds, shower and toilet. Both
dormitories have wheelchair access and a disabled toilet in both
dormitories. |

| The
Ranger House: |
A
self-contained Victorian house situated within the grounds of the
Activity Centre. It
has three bedrooms, a large sitting room, dining area, a well-equipped
kitchen, and shower and toilet facilities.
It is ideally situated for smaller groups with a
recommended maximum number of 12. |

| The
West Glamorgan Trading Depot is
also situated in the grounds of the Activity
Centre. |

| Location |
The West Glamorgan campsite is located at
Penmaen in the Gower Peninsular. The site is situated in a
largely undeveloped and unspoilt area which has been designated an Area
of Outstanding Natural Beauty; overlooking
the wide sweep of Oxwich Bay to the west with Three Cliffs Bay to the
east, and is approximately 8 miles from Swansea.
The site is two miles from the West Glamorgan
Guide Activity Centre at Parkmill. A path leads from the
site to the beach. |

| Facilities: |
The
site is fully equipped for six patrols and staff.
Cooking equipment is available for either patrol or company cooking.
A concrete shelter is provided for the use of gas stoves.
There is a large wooden hut which stores the equipment and provides
alternative accommodation in bad weather.
The
site is newly equipped with electric showers, flush toilets and wash hand
basins.
Two trek carts are available in the hut to transport kit from the car
park to the site.
A flag pole is stored in the hut.
Campers are required to bring their own flag. |

Neath Guide

Neath Guide Hall is situated in the market town of
Neath, within easy driving distance of attractions such as Dan-yr-Ogof
Caves, NT Aberdulais Falls, Margam Park and Afan Argoed Forest
Park. The Gnoll Park, local swimming pool and shops are all
within a five minute walk of the hall. |

The
hall is suitable for small groups and is available to rent for
sleepovers, brownie and guide holidays, etc.

The
premises are situated at Bryn Rd., Swansea approximately 5 minutes walk
from the beach. |

The
building consists of:
The
Baden Powell Hall
a large hall, with polished floor.
Kitchen
large, modern, fully equipped.
Dining Room seating for 42 persons.
Guiders
Room, Scouters Room, Committee Room and Two other rooms all suitable for sleeping accommodation
on camp beds (which are available on site).
Shower
Block
consisting of three electric showers, three wash hand basins with hot
& cold water and a separate shower for the disabled.
Toilet
facilities: Ladies -
two WCs and two wash hand basins.
Gents - one WC and two wash hand
basins.
Disabled - one WC and one wash hand basin.
The
building has gas central heating and a telephone on site.

| Additional Information: |
There are regular bus services into the city centre and,
in the opposite direction to Blackpill, Oystermouth and Mumbles. However,
the city centre and other attractions, such as the New National Waterfront
Museum, Plantasia (Tropical Hothouse), Swansea Museum, cinemas and theatre
are within walking distance along the promenade. Singleton Park is at the
end of Bryn Rd. and Brynmill Park is approx. 10 minutes walk away. A small
grocery shop is within easy walking distance and the city centre has all
the usual large stores and supermarkets. The nearest swimming facilities
are at the Wales National Swimming pool close to the University, which
also houses the Egypt Centre.
The
building was the first purpose built joint Scout & Guide Headquarters
in the County and was opened in 1968. In 1991 most of the building was
re-built and now provides modern, first class accommodation, which during
school holidays and weekends can be used as a centre for pack holidays.
The building is suitable for use by the disabled. There is plenty of car
parking space and coaches can use the driveway to the front of the
building. There is a field which can be used by members using the
Headquarters.
